New site design
The long-awaited (by me, at least) redesign is live!
content pages
I wanted a cleaner, more content-focused look. Navigation is simplified and the comic strip images are bigger. Author commentary appears immediately below the strip.
mobile-friendly
The new responsive layout adapts to your screen size, so everything should fit nicely on any device.
home page
It now features the ten most recent posts. This should make it easier for readers to see where they last left off. I know it's common for webcomics to show the latest strip on the home page, but I don't like how that confuses the URL for sharing purposes. Not everyone knows what a permalink is.
archive images
The comic archive now has thumbnail images, to help you find what you're looking for. It's also broken up by year, to hopefully avoid interminable scrolling.
mailing list
Finally, you can subscribe via email.
comments
Years ago I had JS-Kit in place for comments, before their service was discontinued. I miss seeing reader feedback, so after looking at several options I'm giving Disqus a try. If there isn't much discussion or traffic as a result, I'll remove it.
I considered Facebook Comments, but didn't want to require someone to be a Facebook user. I know some people like to keep their various Internet activities siloed. I like that Disqus offers several login options, including posting as a guest (although you need to click into the Disqus signup field for the option to appear, which is terrible).
suggestion box
Want to see a comic on a specific topic? Have a problem with the site? Send me your thoughts!
no ads!
They were just cluttering the page. Not worth the pennies they were bringing in.
fixed RSS feed
There was a problem with my RSS setup, so the feed didn't update correctly for the last few posts. Apologies to the RSS crowd (myself included)!
I put a lot of thought, research and work into improving the reader experience. Let me know what you think in the comments!
